I listened to the new album today. I thought it was alright. It didn't feel particularly country to me though. So many of the songs just seemed to be pop.
I love the title track though even though it's the least poppy thing he has ever done.
I think "Crash My Party" was a much better lead off song than "Kick The Dust Up." I was shocked at how fast Country radio got rid of KTDU. Dust only took 11 weeks to hit #1, among the fastest this decade (only 2 or 3 have made it in 10 weeks), but then the song dropped all the way from 1 to 6. Yes he had another song coming up (TMKON), but he did two years ago too, and CMP still stayed at #1 3 wks, and dropped a much more respectable 1-3-5-8.
"Strip It Down" is being performed tomorrow night at the Country Music Awards and then "Home Alone Tonight (ft. Karen Fairchild) is being performed at the AMAs. Sucks that it's the next single instead of "Razor Blade."
