I did not read that in the article u linked

The Weather Channel is saying that if a solar storm like the one that happened in 1859 occurred today, we would have less than a day to prepare for large-scale impacts like loss of cell and satellite service. But there's no indication of such a storm happening anytime soon.

it doesnt say its happening in 12 hours, it says we would only get about 12 hours notice if the storm were to happen.
