I have a group interview tomorrow for a shoe retail branch. Does anyone have tips or advice for group interviews in general or retail?
Such as do's and don'ts, what to wear, how to stand out
Thanks!
I had group interviews for my 2 current jobs and my job before this one, they're very straight forward and usually really relaxed. All of mine have been somewhat informal.
I wore smart casual to all my interviews, and the point of group ones is to see how much of a people person you are, since you'll be working with the public and as part of a big team of employees. There'll be group activities you'll need to do, so just make yourself stand out in the group, such as making sure you have your say, but don't be too demanding or bossy. Just make it look like you're comfortable communicating with anyone. And also introduce yourself/start talking to the group you're in before you're told to, the interviewers notice things like that and it'll look good on you if you're making the effort to chat and be friendly.
they're pretty straight forward, just be yourself. Good luck!

Try to let the other people in the interview make a fool of themselves.
I actually like group interviews since it gives you a chance to bounce off conversations more easily with other people. Try to smile a lot too cause I know a lot of people have "resting bitch face" and it can be off-putting. But be natural / calm more than anything else. G'luck!
Group interviews are much easier than standard one on one in my opinion because you can kinda feel the direction of everybody's opinions and incorporate their best points into your own answer. It is however very important to show to your employers that you are listening to the other candidates answers and actually absorbing what everybody is saying.
it also helps that you get a few minutes to gather up your thoughts unlike when it is a one on one interview wherein you have to answer much sooner.
My tip for you is to arrive early and get to know the other applicants and talk to them/have a bit of a char to ease up any tension you have and get in a more relaxed environment..
I've had two, one for Apple and one for a local company. I got the job at the local company.
I arrived first of all the candidates which the host appreciated, joked around with her, showed that I was really interested by asking questions I already knew the answer to, talked to the other candidates and remained confident and chill.
My best advice would be is: even though it's hard to practice, be confident. You probably wont screw up, and even if you do no one actually cares enough to judge and you won't care about it by the time you get home. There's no reason to be nervous, so just be confident that you'll get the job because that will really affect how you perform in the interview. Also, when you are asked to introduce yourself and whatnot find a way to mention your skills appropriate for the job.
