Yeah, I actually think this has more to do with atheism only really taking off in recent years. The pool the current crop of stars comes from has been mostly Christian or religious in some way, so the diaspora would reflect that.
You'll probably see more atheist pop stars in years to come.
Oh wait tho one of the main pop girls in Poland, Doda, claimed that she believes more in dinosaurs than the bible because "it is hard to believe in something written by people who drank too much wine and smoked herbal cigarettes."
