I wasn't alive when Atlanta was picked, but I've heard that people were a little surprised because Atlanta was pretty much were Charlotte, NC is now In the 90s (And we all know how weird it would be for them to choose a city of Charlotte's stature now). I don't think people were unhappy about it though.


Mess. You can't just look at the cities population. By those standards Boston is kinda small, but even then it has more than enough hotels and everything to accommodate big events.

Cities like Boston, Miami and Atlanta have small city populations, but the metros are like 10+ times larger
