I think back in her day she was an accidental trend-setter, but its not like it was her setting the trends. it was her marketing people creating an image for her that became very successful and thus other pop tarts tried to emulate it (Christina, Mandy, Jessica, etc etc. the list goes on).

These days shes not a trend setter but not a true trend follower either. Shes just there.
