For me a tornado would be a lot more scary than the ground shaking for 10 seconds. I have friends that said an earthquake is a lot worse, so that gave me the idea for this thread.

Earthquake honestly. That's why I'll never move to any part of California. Imagine being in the shower and there's an earthquake and you're naked

I've encountered and earthquake almost 4 years ago (does anyone else on here in the DC/Maryland area remember that?) and it was scary but i cannot imagine what it would be like the encounter a tornado..
I remember my parents making me watch the movie "Twister" when i was little kid and the opening scene alone had me running out of the room and crying

I don't think you can outrun a tornado. The best you can do is get in your storm cellar (if there is one) and pray for the best.

Hmm... I don't know. Tornado's are a lot easier to keep track of and sometimes you can predict them whereas earthquakes come out of nowhere. But I feel like tornado's last longer and are more common than an earthquake.

However, the big one would be more horrifying, I'm talking 9.2+ around the San Fran area.

From a taking shelter standpoint, when it comes to an earthquake, you just need to get under something regardless of where it is.

With a tornado though, depending on it's strength, you have to go to the center most of the house like a closet or bathtub, but even then, if you're dealing with an EF4 like Tuscaloosa or an EF5 like Joplin, then your chances of surviving aren't as good and you'd have to take shelter underground.

It depends. Most of the Tornados are F0 - F2, so i would find easier to deal with it. If an earthquake 9.0+- hits a large city, the death toll would be a lot bigger then a F5 Tornado hitting the same city...

Earthquake, the big ones tho, not the ones yall get in the US.
