That video was disturbing to watch. The officer totally escalated that situation. He even threatened her. His job was to issue a traffic sitation and send her on her way. It was clear from the video he was fishing for trouble. He pointed a tazer at the womans head when he was in no danger. That is likely a violation...along with the many others. The police officer's job is not to instigate a confrontation. His job is to de-escalate the situation.

I dont know if this is a race situation so much as a gross abuse of power situation. I think they should throw the book at him. If that means he gets charged with a hate crimes, so be it. In places where you drive these random driving while black stops are unavoidable.

There needs to be federal legislation that holds cops to a higher standard and strict consequences for them acting unprofessionally and going on power trips while on the job. Police need the threat of significant prison time if the city has to pay a claim or one of their own acts unprofessionally while on their job.

That video was painful to watch. I think that when the police officer finally issues a statement, he's gonna say that he was tailing Bland because he thought she was driving erratically and possibly under the influence. Like, when he says in the video, "are you ok . . . You seem irritated?" Is he being sarcastic, or does he suspect something? By the time he had gotten out of squad car to issue the ticket, he most likely already ran her plates and knew about her priors. He's gonna say that he thought the cigarette smoke was a cover for something and wanted her to get out the car to do a DUI test. That said, the level of aggression was beyond uncalled for , and please believe he wouldn't have treated a white woman like that.

The police officer lied to his superiors about what happened and they've already announced there will be disciplinary action.

It's not at all only what overactive imaginations see in it. He was probably throwing out a candy wrapper, a cigarette, a piece of lint, etc... "evidence", pfft.

This whole story is so disturbing and eerie I really hope enough evidence can be found so that justice can be served.

I will say that it is never a good idea to not comply with the police. If they are asking you to do something simple like put out a cigarette, it is smart to just put it out rather than dwell on it and ask why, and risk further trouble. Some cops are assholes and should not be cops, but the way to handle them is to just comply if they aren't asking anything crazy of you. That's the way to avert further trouble...not complying will just anger them and amplify their bad qualities, and unfortunately, they have the power in that situation. That's why I think all cops should have body cameras and closer surveillance, but that's another issue.

That said, the cop was clearly way too rough with her and I do not believe she killed herself. All of the details are way too eerie.

The police arent exactly trust worthy when it comes to black people. Of course they are questioning everything.it still doesnt change the fact the officer lied about what went down and abused his power.

Well, I'm not going to say I told you so but... Hopefully this will be a lesson for some of us to be more critical with what we read on the internet. You aren't fools, just make sure you won't be fooled in the future. I'm glad that conspiracy can be put to bed and the irresponsible people who reported and pushed this speculation can look like total asshats and stick to the facts
