At least one person is dead and six injured after a portion of Madonna's "Sticky and Sweet" stage set collapsed Thursday in Marseille, France, according to French police.

The accident occured in Nice's Stade Velodrome at 5:15 p.m. local time (11:15 a.m. EST) during preparations for her next show. Police and fire officials are closing down the stadium while trying to rescue those still trapped.

The concert, planned for Sunday, July 19, has been cancelled, BBC reports. More to come ...

That's very sad news to hear. I know Madge will do something nice to help those families who either lost a person or looking after an injured one.

Madonna just issued the following statement in light of the horrible accident that left one of her crew members dead and six others injured while setting up her concert stage in France on Thursday.

"I am devastated to have just received this tragic news. My prayers go out to those who were injured and their families along with my deepest sympathy to all those affected by this heartbreaking news."
