This isn't for the money, and this is NOT milking the series, in any way. Studios realize that most people will not be able to sit through a 4-5 hour movie without some sort of intermission, and that's not how movies work anymore.

I'll sit through a 4-5 hour movie. Actually my father used to tell me of the days of watching double features in the movies for $1 and in between movies they would show cartoons. So basically, that could have been 5-6 hours.
Anyway, of course I'm not stupid and neither is the studio. Of couse, milking the success is the smart thing. Rather than having 1 sure moneymaker, they now have 2. Doubling profit is always a good thing for them.
Now instead of $1 for 2 movies, we pay (or at least I do) $12.50 for 1 movie which sucks most of the time (of course Harry Potter was good though).
