As of this weekend, my windows 8.1 (which i've had for awhile now), laptop battery no longer fully charges to 100%. It either fully charges at 99% or like tonight it was at 98% and it was fully charged.

Is it dying?

I wouldn't know. I keep my laptop plugged in literally 24/7.

Laptops have some of the quickest deteriorating batteries out there. I'm pretty sure my phone has a better battery life than it.

PS, even if you don't have a battery, your laptop will still work if it's plugged in.

Yep, my laptop starting doing that before the battery stopped charging completely.
Now I have to keep it plugged in at all times or else it won't turn on at all.

Not yet. Wait until you only can have like less than an hour every single charge.

Batteries degrade overtime but that's not yet an indication. It's losing its power but it will still be usable in maybe another year.

That's what happens with my grandmother's dusty ass Windows 7 laptop she still uses lmao every time I used it when i was waiting for a new hard drive on my computer this summer, it would take no longer than an hour for the battery to die after being fully charged lmao

That's been happening for more than a year for me and it still works. It lasts for about half an hour now but still.

Either do not overpower charge it or lower your brightness or both. Sorry, as far as I know that's the only way to save up your battery. Yes battery for laptop is(are) usually cheap.

Can you install the battery yourself with guidance or do you need it to be professionally installed

When I had a laptop I kept it plugged in all day. That's why I switched to desktop and never looked back.

Better screen, better performance for the same cost. But I don't use my laptop outdoors so there's that. I would probably just save some money and get a great laptop with Skylake on it. Skylake is bound for release later this year.

The leaked Surface Pro 4 has a full three hours of battery life more than the SP3. (8.5 hours vs 11.5 hours). That's really impressive. I bet some laptops will have the same battery improvement.

I mainly bought a laptop cause I heard video editing gets better performances on a laptop than a desktop.

Except my charger is broken so I can't even turn on a laptop.

With my old laptop my battery stopped charging and it only kept my laptop on if it was held a certain way.

My current one is on its way there though, I have to charge it like 8 times a day because they battery lasts like 40 minutes.

It depends on the laptop. It used to be unlocking a latch (a screw might be there preventing accidental unlocking), battery drops from the laptop and attach another battery.
