Since quite a few of us are bound to go on a holiday in the coming weeks/months I decided to make a thread where everyone can ask/give tips for travels and tips for things to do in specific countries/cities.


I was wondering if there are any members from Portugal/Lisbon that can give me a few tips of things I need to see/do when I'm there. Also, I'm wondering if there's public transportation on national holidays?!

I think most people have already gone on their holidays. Anyway, sorry, but I've never been in Portugal/Lisbon.
To everyone else, I recommend Italy. It's such a cool country; the best food ever, so beautiful and the culture/history is just amazing

tips:
you get fined for lots of stuff here

Don't eat airplane food and don't eat before you're flight (especially if it's a long flight) -- you'll just feel sick.
Roll your clothes to fit more space in your luggage.
Always know a few words of the country's language. Even if you can't converse, which you'll probably won't, people will be more receptive to helping you in your native language if you at least seem to make an effort to speak theirs.

Holidays over here have only just started, most people here will go in the next 8 weeks + I'm already thinking about the holiday I want to take next summer or perhaps around Christmas. Italy is amazing, can't think of a single village or area I didn't like, though Venice was the least interesting city I've been to.

I wanna go there some time, lots of family members have been there, but not literally restaurants getting closed if there's a complaint that someone got sick there once or getting a fine for chewing gum

haha chewing gum is okay unless you spit them onto the ground.

adding on some other general travel tips (not sure if helpful/accurate):
- take pictures of your passport. in case you lose it you can use the pics for identification.
- take pictures of your luggage (with the contents) to help in insurance claims (if needed)

If your car breaks down at night and you hear a creepy ass night. Get off the car and follow it! Make sure you're phone is not charged and make sure you're ALONE

Don't go on a road trip unless you have a lot of money and the city you're going to is somewhat close...
