Part of Taylor's legacy, is that she is doing it without the 'sexuality'. Because, in reality, sexuality is no longer considered an impact. In fact, it is a 'turn-off'. Much of the new musicians are beginning to realize that they can no longer go on stage and flaunt themselves like Madonna use to.
But of course being in control of your own music and making good business decisions has impacted the industry, as far as Taylor is concerned. She is named as one of the most powerful women by TIME magazine. She is called the 'Music Industry' by Bloomberg. She has been listed as one of the most influential women of the world by 'Forbes'. And the critics are raving about the '1989 tour' This is impact! Not your sexuality argument. Does a stripper in a nightclub have impact!
If you equate 'shock' with 'impact' than you are sorely mistaken.
As I have said, Taylor has the music industry under her thumb and is actually influencing many of the up and coming artists. Ed Sheeran, Ellie Goulding, Vance Joy, Rachel Platten, and many others have all actually received boosts to their careers after even the simplest mentions
Sorry, but your 'Sexuality' argument (because it has no substance) is dead in the water..

Nnnnnnn it's not just about whether "sexuality" works anymore. Madonna became the most influential female pop artist because she changed the game and maintained her relevance for 30 years. The reinventions of images and sound, her sexuality, her tours, her outrageous performances, her rebellious persona, her manipulated controversies, her open support to the gays etc. She DEFINES the modern pop girl formula whether you like it or not. She may not be the first woman to do a lot of these things, but she was the first one to reach superstardom and no one has topped her ever since.
Now back to Taylor, what has she done that hasn't been done before? I love 1989 (more so than most Madonna records) but she's basically a blonde white sweet pseudo-country girl with a guitar who writes cute little pop tunes

and stop acting like she's been dominating for 12 years. She's only been on top for like 9 months
