It has all the pomp and circumstance MTV looks for in VOTY nominees. And, it got nominations in FIVE out of the six professional categories... It not being up for VOTY would've made the nominations seem more inconsistent imho.

SIO is much more fun to watch and has the replay value. BB is a huge let down. Cheap looking, celebrities with pointless cameos and so many for so little substance. The best part is before the songs starts

Bad Blood is also on track to beat it though! It was unveiled on BBMAs, it was a media event with lots of buzz. Celebs, costumes, special effects. It was like a mini Sci-Fi movie. And it smashed 24hr vevo record. And propelled Bad Blood straight to no 1 on Hot 100. It's getting 35 million views every week, even after 12 weeks or so.
