A duet between Ariana and The Weeknd, "Love Me Harder" was released as the fourth single from My Everything, becoming her fourth and final top 10 hit of the 2014. It's also her final song on the countdown. Was this song the catalyst for Abel, her domination of the charts in the following year? Like the other My Everything singles, the song received critical acclaim, with critics praising the dark sound and Ari's vocals.
Honestly, I underscored this. It deserves an 8 or even a 9. The intro >
After a year, I think I've overplayed it. Still ME's best song by miles, but they have no spark between them, I've gone off Abel and the song never goes anywhere.
Never really understood why people act like Love Me Harder is anything other than basic but it's gonna win now and it'll be justice for the horrible taste in here.
genetic fail reveals a little too much: "I touch my body to this song. It's very sexy in a very sophisticated way." Tbh, I find it kind of sexless. Truth Teller gives it a 2 saying that "It's overrated and needs to be sabotaged or else it will win." Fun fact: even had you given it a 10 it would've still finished in third place. From what I gather, SailorMoon does not think much of features: "The lyrics and beat are amazing, Ariana's voice is spectacular but the Weeknd kills the song for me." Artemisia is on the same page, saying it "would have been better with Ariana alone." Conversely, conseeded says that "the production, lyrics, and feature are A+."Subomie prefers Style. K$Elle however says it's better than Style and calls it a""perfect song [His] 4th most played song overall. The best out of those "DWUW influenced " songs" Drowned_World sang the praises of the duet: "So catchy and addictive and arguably Ariana's very best song. As opposed to most of My Everything's other features, Abel actually adds something to the song and doesn't seem tacked on or unnecessary." I agree, it definitely feel like it's more of a joint effort compared ot some of the rent-a-rappers on the album. Black Umbrealla said: "I love how this song sound a little different from her other songs, I love the feels it gives you, especially with the sexy lyrics, the amazing production, how can Ariana & The Weekend's voices actually suit each other on the song, the back up vocals always gets me up. It's just a song that I loved from the first listen, one of these songs that you can't stop playing." Stan! Superpower has a suggestion for us: "Ariana always serves generic songs but they are always flawless and sweet Pop candy. This song is even better when you sing Fcuk Me Harder instead of Love Me Harder." I'm sure the bottoms here would agree. conatus is uncharacteristically succinct: "I do not like The Weeknd and that is all I have to say on the matter." Ok, KKKonatus IconicFlop called it "the best song on the album. This is her "Don't Forget About Us"." Shade. Stan also thought it was the album's highlight: "The stand-out track of the album, in my opinion. One of her few collaborations, where I actually enjoy the part of the featuring artist. "
On their 11s:
*ColdFire* - "Flawless dark sound with smooth & romantic vocals by both of them. Fabulous song!"
HausofCarlos - "I think this song is one of the best pop songs of the past few years. Ariana's voice fits it perfectly, the melody is everything. And The Weeknd is one of my other faves too so that's an amazing extra."
Ugh, I wasn't expecting y'all to have so much to say.
