4 Years ago Today, the world lost a mesmerizing voice, a honest and frank songwriter, and one of the most unique artists of her generation.
Amy broke into the music scene with her debut album
Frank which merged hip hop beats and production flourishes with Jazz elements to create a distinctly new sound with songs like In My Bed. The album saw success in the UK as well as in Europe and overseas.
However it would be Amy's followup album
Back to Black which catapulted her into superstardom. The lead single, Rehab, modeled after the singer's well publicized struggles with drugs and alcohol achieved huge success in America, allowing her to fully crack the US. The album received wide spread acclaim with many labelling it a modern classic.
I'm not going to dwell on the circumstances of Amy's death since most people are intimately aware of them.
Amy was many things to a lot of different people. But her music has personally carried me through some incredibly difficult times. So I thought it would be nice to remember her through her music and performances and interviews.
