The "pitting women against each other" thing is when the media makes things into feuds that aren't feuds (see Applause vs Roar). Nicki's tweet definitely seemed to be alluding to pitting women against each other when it really isn't a women issue.

But see, no. It wasn't about the media pitting women against each other, which they admittedly do - it was about whether Nicki was doing it, and how Taylor can be argued to have done it in the same way of which she is accusing Nicki. It had nothing to do with the media at that point.
And plus, as we've already had threads over, Taylor's writing of a song to capitalize on the situation was already a bit extra - she's making a business move out to be getting shot, being stabbed in the back, etc.
The media perpetuated and promoted the conflict between Taylor and Katy, but Taylor knew and expected this would happen, and dropped hints, and had Selena look like Katy in the video, etc. etc. She wasn't innocent or non-complicit in creating this particular instance of pitting women against each other.
Y'all know how much I like Taylor, but I've said from day one: with regard to "Bad Blood" and the tour conflict, she has never been the one in the right.
EDIT: I'm sorry, I didn't realize this was closed already.
