Well it's an American show... there aren't many non-white and non-black musicians who are popular there. These award shows are all about popularity.

as if the US didn't go through a Spanish-Era where hispanics/ect were getting hits left and right...Smooth, Maria Maria, and Bailamos could've gotten a nom somewhere...all went #1 on the Hot 100 and videos were played a lot
