I don't see the hate for Windows8.

They should focus on Quality instead of trying to make a new windows system every year

Windows 8 is a mess. I ****ing hate it.

I need back my regular Start bar and all that stuff. Like, they tried to change so many well-known symbols. That's like trying to change the traffic lights colors just because it "looks better & different, so innovative".

So dumb. Hope they learn from their mistakes. Windows 10 looks better though.

Well I mean, they plowed all that money into Nokia when everyone knew it was about as relevant as blackberry.
They created Windows8, basically an abomination that neither functions well for tablets nor desktops.
Then they spent all that R&D money for the hololens, so that people who play minecraft and be even weirder.

Microsoft is so lost.

Not a shock. That is why they dumped the phone hardware this month, it's probably baked in there as a one time lose to with the restructure.

They are refocusing on software and quality. That is what Windows 10 is all about.

Microsoft is outdated. Apple & Google are literally taking over.

Is that why they are giving away windows 10?

Poor Windows. W10 is promising but still disappointing - if my school and future employers would switch to Apple I wouldn't even have a reason for having a Windows computer.

They're becoming way less relevant in the business sector where I live, too - as Mac OS gains more capabilities and Linux distros become more effective, Windows is becoming less the standard and more just another option.

Nah, they're giving away Windows 10 because they want a mass adoption of their latest OS. They saw that Apple's business model, giving away software for free, is successful and has high customer satisfaction rates.

However, the main difference between Apple and Microsoft is that Apple makes a ton of profit out of hardware sales while Microsoft makes more profit with software. It'll be interesting to see how Microsoft can pull this off in the long run.

Well they don't have a flagship smartphone, so it's expected.
