Taken from Rumours, "You Make Loving Fun" became the fourth top 10 hit for the band in the US. It was the album's fourth and final single, written and sung by Christine McVie.
The song was inspired by an affair McVie had with Curry Grant, but "to avoid flare-ups", she lied and told her then-husband John McVie that the song was about her dog. He later found out what the song is really about. I don't condone cheating, unless it inspires you to create a song as great as "You Make Loving Fun".
This is the highest-placing song to get a 0. The song was also covered by Cyndi Lauper in 1984. #FunFacts.
What the GP had to say:
While not directly about this song, lovesong sent this comment with his score: "Rumours is seriously the best album EVER." Wow, for once, I agree with you and your usually questionable taste!" Playa Playa actually praises this song specifically. He says, "This is the quintessential Fleetwood Mac song in my opinion! Christine McVie's vocals are stunning, the bass by John McVie is stunning, and Lindsey Buckingham's guitar work is his finest moment." True, what kind of magnum opus? "Flopslide" could never.
