From Parallel Lines, "One Way Or Another" failed to match the success of the #1 single that preceded it ("Heart Of Glass"), peaking at #24. It was never released as a single in the UK, and never charted... Until One Direction released their "One Way Or Another (Teenage Kicks)" mashup in 2013.
Rolling Stone ranked it as the 298th greatest song of all time, and it was apparently inspired by one of Harry's boyfriends, who stalked her after they had broken up.
Oh, and this was the only "Blandie" song that Eevee gave a 10 to. Poor that.
What the GP had to say:
Lucas32 spoke highly of the song, saying, "I was really close to giving this my 11 because this is just one of Blondie's finest songs. What is particularly amazing about this song that no matter if one is a pop or rock fan this song will satisfy both with an inescapable rhythm, an instant chorus and some noisy guitar play. Immaculate." Buyonce1814, on the other hand... "A great classic but sadly I feel like there are more superior versions of it. I always preferred Sabrina's (Melissa Joan Hart) version to it." That says more about you than it does about the song, henny.
The first song released from the band's 1984 album Learning To Crawl, "Back On The Chain Gang" became the band's biggest hit in the US, peaking at #5. And to this day, it remains their biggest hit there. Recorded during a tumultuous time for the band, only two members were present at the time of recording: Hynde, and drummer Martin Chambers. Other musicians were used during the sessions to fill in for the recently-departed former members.
