Discussion: Why are gays obsessed with generic pop girls?

The males in your sig are far more generic. It's so misogynistic that when a pop girl creates great, current-sounding music, it's generic. When a male artist creates mediocre music that rips off an artist of the past (see Bruno's "Uptown Funk," Robin's "Blurred Lines," etc.), it's considered a throwback

Not all gays, just the superficial ones. Like their faves, they are all just about image.

My, how impressive it is that they showed support AFTER the change in public perception.
Meanwhile these "generic, air-headed" popgirls went out of their ways and risked their careers to push LGBTQIA rights/visibility.

The GP are just as obsessed with generic music as well
They listen to their pop music thinking that they're cool and **** but it's just as generic as most of the pop music :snubull:

I'm not obsessed with generic pop girls, I just prefer female.artists to males. But personally I find it easier to get into and connect to female artists. I don't see anything wrong with it. I mean, no one bats an eyelid when straight guys listen to mostly male artists or when critics include a disproportionately small amount of females in their best of lists.

Why are you trying to put up a fight? As I've said before, I use pop music extensively. I'm not trolling, it's just I legit find it tragic to limit your taste to pop girls exclusively so I'm trying to understand the reasoning behind it.

This is actually a very valid point.
As to why to do gay men closely follow female musicians, I guess it has something to do with gay men relating more to women than men. It is not only in music, but in other forms of entertainment as well. In addition to that, the image behind some of these pop girls is usually out there and unlimited - which is something most gay men wish they could be. I don't think they want to be girls, as some people would have you believe, but that they want to be a little more, erm, I guess free is the right word? Have you ever seen or been to gay pride?

Madonna, Grace Jones, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, T.a.T.U., Carrie Underwood, Dolly Parton, Judy Garland, Diana Ross, etc. Female singers stepped out for the LGBTQIA community decades ago and have been supportive since. The average male vocalist is just now hopping on that wave now that it's a needed part of your image to compete commercially
In reality, that's a lot of why gays "prefer" women. These women tend to "prefer" us, too, and not just see us a paycheck like Nick Jonas, for example.

Because many gay men idolize and secretly yearn for the brazen femininity and sexuality of female pop stars.

You are wrong sis. We are obsessed with Queens.
Katy Perry for example, no one was really that obsessed with her in 2010, 2011 (when she was smashing with singles) because she simply didn't have that "QUEEN" aura. I have to admit, she does have it now, hence why she has so many fans etc.
Everyone loves a powerful Queen u know.
P!nk is also generic, but "gays are not that obsessed with her" why ? Because she is not a Queen. Why ? Because she doesn't want to be one, never wanted to.... and she doesn't have that aura that the other pop girls have, even though she is just as successful...
I think we are more about the "Powerful Woman that everyone wants to see live, to meet, everyone likes to talk about and so on. " than "the generic pop artist".

Was there really any need to call them "generic" tho?
