Discussion: Have you ever had a friend just start ignoring you?

My situation

My friend has been acting weird for a minute now. Being real short with me, seeming irritated, etc.

I asked if something was wrong via text since we work together (since I have this gut feeling that something isn't right) and I didn't wanna do it in a public setting, and this was a few hours ago, and I never received a text back.

Have you ever had a friend just stop being a friend for no reason. I don't feel as if I did anything or said anything wrong, but if I did I would like to correct it. I have a big heart and I'm not a mean spirited person at all.

Should I just dust off my shoulders and move on, or keep pursuing the situation?

You should move on if you don't feel like you did anything wrong. I mean, it's their business to approach you and tell you if they have any problem with you that you're not aware of. They come back eventually (from my experience).

Yes. We'd been friends for four months, I had always been super nice, nothing had ever went wrong, all of a sudden he started ignoring to me when someone rich/overprivileged who had always bullied him wanted to make friends with him.

But anyway, you should dust off your shoulders and move on of course.

Its hard though because we are coworkers, so I'll always have to see this person until I or she quits.

Ive had friends do it in the past but they would always come around again. I find it so immature and rude to just ignore a friend. If they have a problem they should address it and move on.

I've done it to a friend. He was becoming more and more of jerk as time passed. We used to be best buds, now I just talk to him when I see him occasionally.

Yes. Like if you don't wanna be friends anymore, then why not just say so. I hate it when people think the better option is to ignore someone and hope they take the hint rather than be blunt and tell them how you're feeling. I don't put up with that, if you're ignoring me I'll bother you and ask you why you're doing it and if you can't give me an explanation I'm cutting you off

Sometimes I do this. I don't talk to my friends for weeks or sometimes months because I just need some time to me or space. They know I do this so its not a problem anymore.

well if it’s “her loss” then clearly her friendship shouldn’t mean enough for you to be nagging about it on a forum. If you were truly friends it wouldn’t be just one persons loss, so grow the **** up and ask what the situation is in person to avoid the childish texting games.

He/she's fake or she's either hiding something from you.

Also, talk to him/her in person and not by text or social media. Y'all will get things done and talk. The rule applies to people who want to terminate relationships. Don't break up via text or social media (i.e Twitter, Instagram, Snapchat, Facebook) because it will make you feel like your scared of that person. Confront the person face 2 face.

No, but I've ignored a "friend" because he was mentally abusive and obsessive and every time I tried to get him to leave me alone or stop doing things to me he wouldn't stop. The only choice was to just cut him out completely. I'm sure he thinks I just stopped talking to him "for no reason" since he really just didn't understand.

If you think about it though was there anything that happened and maybe you're just overlooking?

The people you no longer talk to after high school were never your friends to begin with. I have friends who I have talked to since middle school. Real friends are forever.
