And Janet is a legend because her art has contributed to the evolution of the music landscape through dance, visuals, and artistic growth. This is where Britney fails. Britney came out riding a trend (bubblegum pop), a sound that the Spice Girls created (Britney pretty much owes them her career), and continued cooking fish while the pan was hot. It burned around in 2001 when she went to 10 million to 4 million between Oops and ITZ (spare me your radio ban argument). Nothing she's done has helped shaped the way artists approach the industry. Janet has. That's why Janet is legendary and Britney will settle for being a pop culture icon in perpetuity.

And Janet has? Lmfao plea, don't come with this black mainstream crossover BS because it's not cutting it.
She did have some little impact when it comes to the dance, I'll give you that much, but then again, she was being coached by the greatest female dancer of all time, Paula Abdul, so yeah.
Britney did have impact in the music business and pop culture and that's why several new artists have already cited her as an influence, not only music artists but even acclaimed movies directors and major websites can confirm that she altered the landscape of popular music, and I have already posted the receipts, REAL receipts, but you ignored it pages ago. I wonder why. It's not hard to understand and accept that she's a legend but ok.

When Janet was 30, she was dropping #1 anthems like "together again" and "All For You". Britney struggling to stay on her seroquel regime at 34.

TROLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL! Britney did what? What she actually did was get introduced through a sound that already existed and get immense popularity. That's it. She didn't alter ****. She didn't change the way people sang, performed or made music, nor did she do anything to change the sound of pop music. She's a pop phenom whose streak lasted five years. Now she's huge tabloid fodder. That's it. Get over it.

Hmmm let's expand on this...
"Control " sold 5 mil in America, 14 million world wide...
"Rhythm nation" 8.5 us, 14 million ww
" Janet " 7 million in the US, 20 million world wide
I could keep going... But we all get it. Janet isn't a local Artist. She sold millions world wide before one could "trend" on Twitter and you actually had to BUY the album.... We mad yet?

Pitchfork, Billboard > your opinion, so sorry
Also, The Village Voice is one of the most prestigious newspaper when it comes to pop culture and guess what:

When Britney Spears does anything, it's on a large scale and is nearlyimpossible to avoid. It's been this way since she was an underage pop starlet topping the charts in a crop-topped schoolgirl outfit cooing "...Baby One More Time." She set the bar for early millennium pop after '90s pop could barely hold a candle to the Madonna and Michael Jackson reign of the '80s. She's a living legend, an icon, and musical royalty.

Umm, yes. Janet is the reason why females today employ dance into their visuals. This is one longstanding trend of Janet's that makes her a legend. Britney's career is absent of this.

I ignored it because no one has been able to answer the question I posed pages ago:

Yes it is! Stop being so pressed!
Also, remember the good ol' Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?

Britney Spears, Pink, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, and Beyoncé. These performers altered the pop landscape and challenged the category of rock in the post Madonna world.

Let me guess, you're going to say that RNR HOF has no credibility? That they're lying and that Britney didn't alter the landscape of pop? Yeah right, stay in denial

Janet is a bigger legend. And you know the hilarious part?
If you asked Britney if she thought Janet was a bigger legend, the answer would also be yes. No argument when the women themself compared agree on an answer.

Dead @ the 15 year old bottoms saying Janet isn't a legend
Janet's music is the reason Britney had a career. Enough said.
