Mmmmmmm no. Is that your only concert you've ever been to? It's all about the performer, the precense and talent to own the stage. Not the price you pay.
i've been to flop tours and some truly suck and others were actually better then big budget stuff in the sense that the music was fantastic. if a song is good and the performer is a real crowd pleasure and performer then it will be fun regardless of it being a big budget tour or a small venue tour
I once got tickets to this festival outdoors where the Manic Street Preachers ( hope ya'll know them, if not, Spotify is your buddy!) were headlining, but due to a possible rainstorm coming they moved this little festival to a big arena equipped for 17.000 people, and not even half the seats were filled
The best concerts I've been to have been for less than $20.
I saw Macklemore three times. Twice before Thrift Shop was a thing and once after. The first two concerts were phenomenal, both $15, and Macklemore really interacted with the audience and it was obvious he was having just as much fun as we did. The last time I saw him, his tickets were near $100 (I got one for $30 from a friend who worked at the venue. It was much more crowded, people were there as obvious bandwagoners, and Macklemore had less chemistry.
I've also seen Watsky and Anderson Paak for $15. Watsky had his sweet time shouting with a megaphone, climbing on top of all the equipment, stage diving from 20 feet high, and making out with a dude he invited on-stage.
I've also seen Grimes, Grace Potter, and Modest Mouse for $20.
I love smaller shows, you can get to the front row so much easier, the shows have a more intimate vibe to them. Why would the cost of the ticket be that important if you love the artist you are going to see? If anything I'm glad I got to see Ellie Goulding, Emeli Sandé; Jess Glynne and Elle Eyre later this year etc. for as little as £20.
I go to shows that cost $20 all the time, if I like the music I go, idc if the person is big or not. I paid $25 to go see The Birthday Massacre and it's always worth it because everyone is jumping around and having fun, especially the band. They always have their concerts at small venues so it's more personal and the band gets to interact with the crowd more. I also get to be in the front easier. Those shows are better than some big pop show tbh
This OP is so uninformed. Ticket prices for concerts depend on a variety of factors and quality of the artist is NOT one of them.
Less well known artists will usually play smaller venues, which means their prices are cheaper. Big names will play bigger venues which means prices are higher. A ticket will also cost more if it's a big stage production as opposed to the band simply playing their instruments, especially if the production has to be brought overseas.
Essentially you're saying any artist who doesn't have a big stage production sucks which is ridiculous. Especially bands usually put everything into their performance and it's amazing to actually see them play live. Small venues give you the chance to be close to the band and other fans which is also great and actually creates a fantastic atmosphere that you won't get in a big stadium/arena.
Also, if you love the artist, the cheaper the ticket price the better because you'll get to see your fave for less money. What's bad about that?
If I like an artist I'm gonna see them live. It's not always about production. When you go to see a band it's more about just the music and hearing them sing live and play instruments.
I don't know why people would pass up the chance to see their faves for a low price? Yet be the first ones to complain about other items being expensive or not even able to avail ATRL+..
I am [possibly] going to see Karetus (one of Portugal's biggest EDM groups) for free on Sunday at a beach party. I'll tell you if I enjoyed it if I end up going
But yea I've never payed for a concert. Only thing close for me was Happy Holi (that kind of color festival thing with DJs), which was only 15 euros and I had a BLAST
