When is your album dropping, and what can fans expect? You’ve been teasing us for a while.
I know, I know. You sound just like my fans. They want to kick my ass, I’m telling you they definitely do because I’m always like "soon, soon, soon." Actually, I was just in the studio, we were talking about revising and going over all of the music that we’ve made together. We are getting to the point now where we feel like we are in a really good place creatively, so we are still making new music, but at the same time, we do have a few contenders that we are ready to release. It’s just timing is everything. I don’t want to rush my creativity for the sake of a deadline.
Austin Mahone and you are pretty much the cutest couple on the planet right now. What is the most romantic thing he has done for you so far?
He is very spontaneous, and I love that about him, just because we can just be hanging out all day in sweatpants and just eating some cereal and then the next day we could be in the zoo or jet skiing in South Beach. It’s just fun, and we don’t have to think about it. That’s what’s so romantic about it. We kind of just go with the flow, and we just end up places we never thought we would end up.
What was the moment you were like, "You know what, I want to give this a shot with him?"
I’ve always found him very, very attractive, no doubt about that. What I’m so thankful for is that we were able to have a true, genuine friendship before anything. I think that is so important because, especially with what we do, we don’t have time to wait. It’s nice to be with somebody who you can trust and who shares the same interests and that you can talk to basically about anything, and he’s kind of become a best friend.
How have his fans (Mahomies) responded to your relationship?
You know what I love? The fans have been nothing but supportive. I mean I’m sure there are a few that are a little bummed out probably, but I think I’ve made it very clear that I was such a big fan of Austin’s before anything. Then we became really good friends, and we stayed friends for quite a while. You know, you grow up and things change and feelings change, and now we’re here and I think fans can tell that my intentions are true and they’re genuine and I really care about him.
How crazy is the media attention that you get from dating another celebrity?
It’s definitely new. It’s so new for me, and it is a little awkward, I guess you could say. But at the end of the day, I know what I signed up for as far as my career goes and then of course he works really hard at the same time to be recognized for his work. We don’t mind it. We’ve taken pictures with fans and stuff. It’s awesome.
