But yes on the whole I agrih. Cheryl is another example.
Like, stateside we've mostly been blessed enough to have fairly decent pop stars. Even the worst are occasionally capable of putting out something decent. Or at least until 2014 when we got both Iggy Azalea and Meghan Trainor. I genuinely can't think of the last time we had such unequivocally repugnant and irredeemable female pop stars break through here. They feel like UK pop stars.

Yeah Ellie's music is good overall (though I am very concerned where she is headed). I was more trying to get at how UNGLAMOUROUS and DOWDY their stars are. There's nothing about them that gives an impression of being untouchable like Beyoncé, for example. All looking like they were picked up off the street and thrown onto the stage of "Britain's Got Talent!" complete with a sob story reel played before their audition.
re: iggy
Her commitment to the spectacle of pop was nice to see, I have to say

Work, Bounce, Fancy, and Black Widow are good/great videos.

My parents don't really @ me about it at all, so I guess I have it easy
