Ciara's mic pack died seconds before acapella Nat'l Anthem
Ciara's All-Star Game national anthem performance garnered widespread praise -- with Entertainment Tonight, E! News, MTV, Billboard, Entertainment Weekly, CBS, The Grio and many others calling it "striking," "stunning," "stirring," "soulful," "absolutely fantastic," "flawless," and "perfect."
But in a new interview with Access Hollywood, she shares that her mic pack died just moments before her first time singing acapella on live television. From her interview:
Quote:
"Singing acapella is... For me it was such a great challenge; it was something I wanted to do for a long time. It was like me facing my fear that I've had since I was really young... I feel like you can never be fully prepared for performances like that -- because basically right before it's time to go live on TV my [mic] pack goes out.
"My background singer -- thank God for her -- she tossed me her pack, but her levels were completely different than mine. And I'm like, I'm prepared for this, what are the chances that this happens right now? But I was like, you know what, this is something that I've always wanted to do, so I was like, 'Let's just go for it.'"
(Interviewer: So what did you do?)
"So she tossed me her pack, you could probably see me moving so fast to put my pack back there. So I got out there and I go, 'Wow, there's so much delay.' So I'm like, 'Find your inner voice. Ignore the delays. Find your calm.' And it was honestly the most exciting thing to be a part of, that I was like... the show must go on."
