I agree with him. I'm from the south and i'm NOT white. I have a lot of friends including some black friends that have stickers of the confederate flag on their trucks. I think they just consider it a southern culture thing. I don't think these people are actively carrying that flag around because they hate colored people. It has just become a symbolism of the south and southern pride. The flag celebrates southern heritage and regional pride.
Yes, the flag IS associated with pro-slavery but my point is.. I don't think the people who carry it around NOW hate black people and still wish slavery existed.
I don't think the First Amendment will allow for the flag to get banned.
its only considered a southern thing because it was based on an ideal that was prominent in the south. The fact that they flaunt it around just shows their ignorance of what the flag symbolizes. People should learn their history and not just flaunt things because other people are. The flag symbolizes a heritage of slavery, it has nothing to do with "regional pride".
!!!!
People need to stop excusing ignorance, there is enough access out here for people to know the origins of the items they use.
That's exactly what makes this THE ABSOLUTE WORST.
He is just being prideful and stubborn, but he needs to think of the young black man he is raising and the world he will have to live in.
Well the world he will have to live in is filled with luxury and privilege. I would be more worried about the world you have to live in because his son will be fine flag or no flag.
No that flag represents the American Civil war and is a symbol of the southern fight to defect and maintain slavery. The only place it belongs is a museum. It is a symbol of racism and saying anything different is ridiculous.
