most of the world were british colonies so they definitely had formal laws against homosexuality

in the UK, "buggery" was illegal until 1967... so even if you were a male rape victim, you'd be prosecuted yourself

and "buggery" between heterosexuals was an offense until 1994

keep in mind that the UK is the leader of modern law so....

But other places aren't as severe as Kenya, evidently. For example, in Lebanon you get 1 year imprisonment, so if you really stood your ground there then it's not bad to do so, but doing so in countries like Kenya will just cause tremendous problems.

most of these countries don't actually prosecute gays... they harass and threaten them
