Yes, I had the same exact problem and after i did this the problem went away

If you're not being hacked it might be a graphics card issue/motherboard issue. It'd be worth the drive to an apple store.

Graphic issues can occur for various reasons. The solution goes for plugging it to another monitor (you're in college, i bet you have a tech center or something with desktops).

If it still happens, change the apps you're using, if it's because of Chrome, uninstall. If it continues even out of Chrome or worsens, go to a Apple Store immediately.
