Of course provided they're not like outspoken/vehement/super open about it and are older than say 70. Anyone who says 'no' needs to check their entitlement. They were from different era and some things just don't make sense to them on a fundamental level. It's not even about "changing their views" because it's out of the question for most of them.

Nah, I don't think they should "get a pass" But I think that for the most part you should understand that many of them are at an age where they are no longer progressing mentally/socially/culturally and they do become stuck in an era so to say. It's not acceptable, but it should also not be looked at with disgust either. You can inform them and move it along.
