One has 3 impactful singles which are being played regularly 5 years after release the other one is 1989.

It's gonna be Teenage Dream. Smash hits and memorable looks go a long way.

I feel 1989 (as an album) had more cultural impact than Teenage Dream.

TD has less searches than ARTPOP and The Fame which is an older album

No one is referencing Katy's work. Just because a couple thousands of teens buy her songs on Itunes, doesn't mean her body of work will be remembered.

No one is talking about Katy's music, not even her most recent album.

In the meantime Taylor's album is not even over yet, and it's already bigger than TD.

I believe 1989 will be more remembered and referenced as a whole body of work 2, 5, 8, 10 years from now.

TD never had any impact as an album. The 5 number 1s from 1 album is the only thing, ever, where the album was commented on as a full body of work and that's only because of the 5 singles

and I think Blank Space will end up being a bigger classic than any song from TD sans Firework. But yeah as a whole album 1989 has been talked about so much, TD was never talked about as "the album".

I think both will be remembered as both are huuuuuge pop albums, and have the potential to become classic pop albums of the 2010s.

However, I think Teenage Dream wins this at the moment because Katy got 5 number one singles from it. AN album that spawns that many hit singles will, in my opinion, always be remembered.

It's a bit unfair comparing the two albums when one was released five years ago, and the other one is less than a years old. We will have to wait another few years to conclusively determine which album will be more remembered.

(I think a better comparison would be Teenage Dream vs Loud Vs The Fame Monster Vs Warrior etc etc).

Itunes shows you how many copies a song has sold to a certain Target audience that OWN Itunes in the first place

Millions more people use Google than Itunes, let alone that even if I use Itunes receipts - 1989 still wins

Currently million more posts on the internet have referenced the other albums, and Katy's albums are the least referenced - which means the least talked about.

Of course it'll be talked about the era is still ongoing. While Firework entered the iTunes Top 100 5 years after the release last week. None of the songs of Taylor can do that. I doubt ANY of the singles on 1989 will gain much recurrent airplay like TD's first three singles.

Also, Google results is based on words not the actual content. Like if you go to one of the farther pages you'll see some words are already being omitted because they couldn't find all the words in that article.
