Season 5 was up their with Season 1/3/4 in my opinion. It truly had me invested week after week, their was 1 week where it was really dragging on, the one where Rick looked out at the lake, I don't remember maybe episode 15. I thought it was becoming tiresome.. but they brought it back with the season finale.
I loved that Tyrese is out, I think it'll give his sister more time to shine, because I'm sure I can like her, their were split moments where she did shine, particularly at the dinner party, when everybody was acting normal and she flipped out. I'd like to see her find someone truly to love, and people believe she might take some of Andrea's story lines from the comic, so that could be exciting for season 6.
Loved the dinner party, and how odd it was to watch them slide into an normal yet unusual situation for them, because they have been so far left for such a long time. It was nice to see them get back to some normality. The way Rick kissed that new girls head, and the bee gees music played at the end of that episode was so clever.
Carol slaying left right and center, her stealing the first episode, and her scene with threatening the child and her own cookie recipe. Her playing housewife when we in fact all know she is the biggest badass of all. It was nice to see Beth in the hospital (it changed the pacing of the show), obviously a horrible ending. The way Daryl held her
I do feel like they tide up a lot of stories this season and very quickly, maybe even quicker then I would've personally liked to see it. Like Terminus, I think the idea of cannibals coming into the show would have been super exciting, and brought back some of the horror elements of the show. And then they wouldn't have had to introduce a new threat like the Wolves or w/e until maybe season 6. Also Beth at the hospital was tide up very quickly.
Season 4 beginning was so boring, I was so bored at the fact that they were still at the prison. I was tired of the scenery so much! And the sickness that they caught was so BORING. I wanted that to end, so badly. BUT it came back with some of the greatest episodes, episode 8 was intense, and the one with Daryl and Beth was done brilliantly, and the stellar episode with Carol and the two little girls, took the show to another level.
But I think 5 tops 4 just by the slightest margin. Only because it had 1 flawed episode, but the rest was very consistent.
