thats not that strange. many pop stars go a pure pop/fluffy sound after dark/personal albums.

Honestly, quality wise, my faves have just got better and better (the exception being Lana with Ultraviolence but UV was fantastic too; just not as good as her previous albums).

But promotion wise and video wise:
Paradise > Ultraviolence

Honestly very disappointed with the cheap videos of UV in comparison to Tropico and Ride.

Bionic > Lotus was tough to witness as a fan, the decline in quality was the biggest shock It was a huge relief when she admitted to having no inspiration during Lotus' creation in the letter she wrote.

except that the music on UV is miles better than to the rather flat sounding production on P.

And Tropico was horrible. Pure kitschfest,

And True Blue, one of her best albums? lol yeah right.

I would personally say:

TFM > BTW because yeah it was so cool to love Gaga during the Monster days and then became sooooo embarrassing because the word GAY was written on her forehead the whole era. However, I do think BTW is a strong and solid album with lots of good tracks.
BTW > AP because the music sucked, AP is a bad album and her whole persona was even more embarrassing than during the BTW days (her meltdowns on Twitter, the Perez Hilton feud... the flop of the album )

COADF > HC > MDNA (Basically COADF is in my opinion her last good album. She messed it all up with HC which is really bad and she doesn't sound really convincing singing on Timbaland's productions...) And MDNA is the worst album of her career.

BACK TO BASICS > BIONIC > LOTUS

ITZ > BLACKOUT (From great performances and lots of promo to ... Gimme More at the 2007 VMAs and no promo)

CIRCUS > FF (She was so weird during the FF days and the album is not that good)
FF > BJ (But FF is still better than BJ which is really tragic...)

LOOSE > MI PLAN

BTW to ARTPOP.

The transition from TF -- TFM -- BTW was flawlessly executed. Sonically and visually. The album following BTW should of been the rock inspired record it looks like she's making now.
