It's not about caring or not caring. All gays know someone like Shane. Someone who spreads his legs at night and then goes out to dinner with his girlfriend the next day. It's cute but they can be trying sometimes.
At the end of the day, Shane's sexuality is NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.

But he was asked, countless times... And he always said straight. Now what I find odd and off putting is that he waited to see how other youtubers' coming out stories would affect their views, to share his own and then presented it in a way that is like: 'I'm doing this because it'll help someone, and it's important that I do'. Nah, you're doing it cause it can't hurt you anymore and you won't lose money and maybe even gain on popularity, like Connor or Troye... That's what's off putting. Is he bi? Probably, is he a coward and a ****** calculative person lying to make himself look better than he is? Yes, without a doubt.
I remember when the youtuber Troy Sylvan (Is that his name?) uploaded a video of him coming out and saying in the comment something along the lines of "What? I thought he wad an openly gay youtuber along with Shane, Joey, and Connor Fanta" and being bombarded with hate comments by their fans saying that they are not gay and that I was homophobic, etc.
And hew are you he shouldn't have made a damn video about it to get views and publicity then
No.
Most YouTubers make "coming out" videos because their subscribers are, essentially, their friends. And they want to be their truest selves with their friends and the people who matter to them.
That argument is only somewhat valid when a YouTuber (like Connor Franta or Joey Graceffa) promotes something for purchase in the same video.
I think it's less about Shane and more about people being baffled by the ignorance and alot of bisexual members being able to relate to his experience.
I think the sis meant that she would drag him because he is using bisexuality as a coverup for really being gay. This just reinforces the (false) notion of bisexuality not being real. Using a bisexuality a stepping stone to realization is cute when a person is trying to find themselves personally however when people do this publicly it gets problematic.
The thing is though you really can't judge whether he is lying or not, because if he finds a male life partner tomorrow and stays with him for the rest of his life he is still by definition bisexual. I mean it's not like he needs to meet a quota of men and women dated.
So stop hating gays and realize it's not all black and white, it's rainbow

Well... look at them now

Spill that tea.
But at the end of the day, I find it sad how so many of you gays will judge him for saying he's bi and not fully gay. Like what is it to you whether he's lying or not? It's none of your business. And even less so because none of you even like him so you probably wouldn't date him even if you ever had the chance. So, why do you guys gaf what he labels himself as? Bisexuality exists, whether you like it or not, whether you think someone is telling the truth or not. And someone lying about being bi should not affect the validity of anyone else's claims of being bi. Either way it's none of your business. Get over yourselves.

Troye Sivan.
But yes - you were completely wrong to assume anybody's sexuality. It's disgusting to do so.
I can not so say it often enough. Gay men mostly don't care if you are bi or gay as long as you look good and want to have sex with us. And in most cases if you are gay or bi is totally unimportant to the conversation, cause gay men are not interested to know if you sleep with women, like wtf? And if you want to have sex with us, then you are gay enough for us to go for it.
When it comes to relationships, it gets a little bit more tricky for different reasons.
And I have never ever met somebody who really questions the existence of bisexuality irl.
The reason many of us regard him as gay is because of stereotypical mannerism attached to gay men.

This. My boyfriend is bisexual. And I couldnt care less if he looks at other girls.

Or you could be less cynical about the situation.
Did you watch the video? Shane talks about his entire journey; from suppression to therapy to now. He mentions Ingrid, who came out in a video recently, which leads me to believe that her video helped him find the courage to make his own video. It's the domino effect.
Here, at 2:05, Willam says, "Are you out? Are you straight?" You can see the panic in Shane's face -- he wasn't ready to confront his sexuality then, at least not with anyone outside of himself and his therapist.
What kind of response do you think would have gotten if you walked up to Caitlyn Jenner 5 years ago and asked, "Hey, are you trans?"
Caitlyn's inner dialogue may have been something like, "OMG, why is this person asking me this? Do they know? I think I'm trans, but I'm not going to tell that person that. I could tell the truth, but I'm afraid." Caitlyn's answer to you: "No, no." Would you call Caitlyn a coward? Never.
Fear is a real and powerful emotion, and you need to learn to empathize with people who have felt too scared to be themselves and respect their stories.
