Aside from the obvious, I'm a big HP Lovecraft fan and LOVED At the Mountains of Madness.
The 120 Days of Sodom by Marquis de Sade is a masterpiece.

I started reading translations of French plays from the period of the French Revolution and omg modern sitcoms are basically just rip offs of these French works. I underestimated Europe her impact.
