The kickstarter is doing great - much more than what its initial goal was - but unfortunately much less than what the series director has wanted. I hope the other two games can be rereleased by Sega someday soon. I'd love to play this series for the first time. I've already backed the third one.

I actually prefered shenmue1 over 2 because it just felt "smaller" Shenmue 2 was overwhelmingly huge and just felt unreachable. Shenmue was more intimate and thats why i prefer it over 2. I think scale is great but leaving an impression about places is better. I dont think Yu needs to make the open world literally literally of of China this time around.. just a few towns are fine..

I know that Yu (Shenmue director) has come out to say that Kickstarter funds are going all to fund Shenmue 3. I do think that Sony will be funding the game and not only in marketing. If that is the case, im most definitely sure they will be forced to make it PS4 exclusive, not just a timed exclusive. If anyone has any other information on this, that would be great, i was really wanting an XBOX One over ps4. Leave it to Shenmue 3 though to convert me to the church of Sony.

I honestly can't wait for this game. But I know it's going to take some years before we get it. Also I agree that the game doesn't need to be huge. Yakuza 4's map is huge, but there's only a few key places to go and it doesn't really make for a memorable time playing besides the missions/side-quest that you want to complete.

Not really. The only reason it's made that much is because it's a high profile game being funded on ****ing Kickstarter and had an ad timeslot during Sony's E3. The only other big names on Kickstarter right now are Keiji Inafune and Koji Igarashi and that's only because they left their corporate backed studios so they put what they wanted to in their games.

I've been a fan of Shenmue since I was very young and will buy this game day one but this whole Kickstarter mess is sheer buffoonery.

2 years isnt bad, we have to wait on some major pop girl releases longer then this. but yeah these next two years will be like christmas everyday as i read something new about the development, trailers, etc from now to then.

Considering that the game has been a NON-factor in the eyes of possibly being resurrected from continuation limbo, I'd say it really is a pretty big deal. And no from what we know they're being backed by Sony for everything else other than development of the game, so yeah we probably wont have the best Shenmue game ever and it possibly may not even have a physical release, but I don't give any ****s about that. I've waited long enough.

Its about time someone said it, Shenmue 3 will come and destroy careers. Mainly Xbox One cuz they aint competing with this revolutionary game. Can't wait till it comes out but stupid IGN other blogs/gaming news website had to ruin everything with their false articles regarding the games funding. SONY AINT GIVING ****!
