But creating a federal holiday is a very difficult and expensive process that requires congressional approval—the current congress is never giving the gays, of all people, a federal holiday.
We haven't created a federal holiday since Reagan signed in MLK day in 1983, and even that was contentious at the time.
Maybe someday this could happen. But I don't think it'll be happening while Obama is still president.
