I honestly, don't see the irony between the two but okay. My post wasn't about an artist being respected it was about longevity. I just don't feel a title such as Legend should be handed out so freely to people who haven't been around the scene for at least 20 years. You can be in the business, be a Legend, but not respected by many. It just doesn't seem right for people who are some of the biggest Top-selling artists ever. Artists who've made a cultural impact on music for decades, yet are skipped in favor of someone who's only been in the business for 11 years.

Maybe they just can't hand out awards post-humously (and technically, the Beatles are dead).

Good point that may have something to do with it, but half the band is still alive. Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr are still alive while John Lennon and George Harrison are dead. No shame in the last living members of the group to accept the award. We also know Madonna is alive and touring as we speak.

I know... IDK. Perhaps they prefer to give them out to currently relevant artists. Active artists, maybe.

Although looking back at the list that doesn't really apply either (Tina, Gladys, etc). Whatever. There's no excuse.

Edit: I see Evis "King of Rock & Roll" Presley isn't on the list as well. You've got to be kidding me? Will Justin receive one before the Legendary King, Elvis? That's a travesty in itself. Where's the Beatles? How you not going to have The Beatles on that list? This list is a big FAIL. Any list of Legends made which doesn't have Elvis or The Beatles in it are a joke!

Elvis is dead.... all of these people are living.... And the beatles aren't most of them dead too. And what you have to realize is all these people have tremendous talent and most of them are multiple Grammy winners. And for the Madonna fans who say she doesnt have one so its a joke..... This is THE MOST VIEWED AWARD SHOW EVER. So its not a joke... 1 BILLION VIEWERS. Madonna has a lot of WMA's check her stats you should know. But if im not mistaking Madonna doesnt have the International Artist Award from the AMA's either does she. I dont know what the problem is but she'll get hers.

Britney stans: you have to realize she dropped off the scene for a long time. She wasn't consistent at all. When she left and got into all types of trouble it hurt her image a lot and you know that. Now I admit the grammys do her wrong.... But so does your beloved MTV. Bey has more VMA''s than her as well. So thats not our fault.

And to the people saying that they dont know half these artists.... something is wrong because these people are all WELL KNOWN.
