What are some beauty standards in your country?

I ask this question because from country to country beauty standards seem to be different.
In fact from city to city.

For example a woman my mom knows from work comes from the country of Mauritania. Apparently before getting married she had been locked up in her house for over 3 months eating and drinking nothing more then extra fat goat milk and goat cheese in order to get her weight extremely high seeing as thats a sign of ultimate beauty.
They also did this because when her man came to ask for her hand she had to be put on a scale. the higher her weight the more money the man gave to her family as a dowry.

Tall and thin with long hair for girls.

Toned, Blonde, Blue Eyes, Stupid. - Australia

Fair skin, black hair, big eyes, tall - Indonesia

Basically a white woman.

The whitening creams say it all.

Which sucks because I'm dark. Poor me. But I imagined myself white and I really wasn't happy with tha result.

Being tanned is probably the biggest thing here. It's so weird that other countries use bleaching creams and try to look as pale as possible.

ya I too find that strange tbh. being from Canada everyone wants a tanned complexion. latino and arabs are seen as the beauty standard. whilst in some places in asia being as pale as possible is the IT thing.

Girls- black eyes, honey/golden hair. white skin.
Boys - tall, black eyes.

That is based on a lot of old national songs.

I'm not that dark but I'm not on their standards. And no, I don't have white teeth. My teeth are bad boo!!

from my heritage (these are generalizations not everyone thinks like this.):

France: thin, dark hair, pale complexion but have dark features.
Spain: the lighter the better. blue eyes and blonde hair is the ultimate goal.
Morocco: meat on your body is a sign of $, big brown or honey eyes, soft hair.
Canada: if you look mixed, latino or arab you have advantage. height is important.

Fair skin, and Caucasian (Tisoy) and East Asian (Chinito) features are the standards of beauty in my country. Brown complexion is ordinary and black is seen as ugly.

100% agree with this, us Filipinos are really desparate to get whiter

And yet your country is full of white Australian tourists trying to get darker.

In Italy we like both Nordic blondes with big boobs and Mediterranean beauties with big boobs.

In Portugal people like tanned skin, brunettes and big boobs and big asses. Long hair for women, short hair for men, who have to be muscular and fit.

If Spain is anything like Portugal people actually prefer tanned skin, DARK hair and light eyes.

basically this. She's portuguese and embodies perfectly the typical Portuguese standarts for beauty in a woman. Blondes are fun but it's actually funnier to make fun of them than to like them tbh. However, some blonde blue eyed people are perceived more beautiful just because of their colors and not because of their features but altogether true beauty always prevails wether you're dark, light or in between.
