I do think this has more to do with general prejudice than marriage, but their point still stands.

I'm sorry, but discrimination/mental anguish does not stop people from buying things. Like how much time is "mental anguish" taking up in a person's day to day life that would have a negative impact on the time they spend using money? This is a reach.
