I see what some of you are attempting to say but Black people certainly weren't technically free of anything for another 100+ years. So let's just respect some black people's choice to not celebrate July 4th if they don't want to.

I don't see you people attacking Festivus celebrators when their holiday literally has 0 real history behind it.

All of the new "freedoms" that Americans received after war, such "no taxation without representation" were not given to Blacks back then. So what freedom's did they receive?

How does being a citizen = being a part of America? Even if they weren't technically considered citizens, they were still a part of America. They had already been there for generations and lived among white Americans.

They were still freed on that date and again, this is all IN THE SOUTH. Black people were free for so long before any Juneteenth in the North.

Your logic is literally "Ok you 2 people are oppressed therefore, the other 8 of us aren't allowed to be considered free. "

my ancestors are Mexican and im Mexican American but I still celebrate it but you have the right not too I just don't agree with you

I personally don't consider someone living in area to be a part of that Country unless they are fully fledged citizens. I'm sure the Blacks (and whites) back then would agree they weren't really American just by virtue of being there.
