Yea, this is something they should have been working on since the Wii. I agree they need to start work on more mature / difficult games. They need their own Hardcore IP. I'm here for them buying a few dev studios.

I haven't bought a Nintendo product since I got another Wii in 2010. I refuse. They're not giving me the games I want to play. I want a console Pokemon game RGP thing. I don't want some childish Hey You! Pikachu or Pokemon Channel or the crappy Stadium games or the lackluster Pokemon Colosseum/XD GOD.

Nintendo was the only gaming products I had growing up. I didn't get a PS3 until 2011 and a 360 in 2012. But they're not worth it. I'm tired of child colors and crap like that.

Nintendo's still rolling in the money they made from the Wii and DS last generation.
Sony's still trying to dig themselves out of the hole they put themselves in when they had to sell PS3s at a loss.
Microsoft's still trying to pick things up from the disastrous first year of the XBOne.
Nintendo can fail for another 4 gens and be fine.

Animal Crossing: New Leaf has sold over 4M copies just in Japan and 9M copies WW.

Super Smash Bros 4. is currently the biggest company-exclusive game. It has also sold over 4M in Japan (and still in Japan's top ten).

Mario Kart is the best-selling home console exclusive (over 1M just in Japan and still charting very well) this gen.

Star Fox, Zelda, Metroid, Fire Emblem, Donkey Kong, Pokemon, etc. also get great reviews and Nintendo is just expanding by adding Splatoon and soon Yokai Watch.

You're seriously downplaying how popular AC is.

There are numerous other Nintendo IPs that you could have used to make your statement accutrate tho, like Star Fox or Fire Emblem, those definitely don't have a large appeal outside the Nintendo Fanbase.

They have billions they're not gonna be in a position like Sega where they keep making mediocre games to stay afloat.

Nintendo does have a problem of not seeing the other two as competition tho and Reggie said so but the truth is they are. They need to get over themselves and compete and the first step is bringing back all the old IPs and making use of them.

this tbh, i grew up playing with the NES, SNES, N64, GC but i haven't bought a nintendo product since the DS Lite and that's because none of the nintendo exclusives they've released (for the Wii U and 3DS) so far got me interested and i don't care about the amiibos or stuff like that
plus things like region lock are a turn off for me, since the vita for example is region free
