On top of that, they're the most profitable gaming company by far.
If they want to extend their lead, they need a system with more third party games. Sony and Microsoft are terrible with exclusives (Sony is better than Microsoft), but they benefit because they're interchangeable pieces of hardware that can play any third-party games. Nintendo generally tries to be innovative so third-party games would require more programming to be on their consoles. They need to dumb down their next console so it can be generic like the PS4 and XBox One and play all the same games.
