Sis she was born in the U.S and she lived with her single WHITE mother her whole life, duh.
She doesn't need to speak spanish to be proud of her roots.
+1. The SJW are killing me with their foolishness.
.
I wish she knew how to speak Spanish, I love ha but I hate that she says "I'm Mexican" without being able to represent her heritage in the most obvious way

She wishes too:

“Actually, it’s a shame because I should know [Spanish] better than I do,” the young star told ShowBizCafe. “I don’t know it very well because my dad’s side of the family, which is the Mexican side, they are in Texas and I’m always traveling and I’m working so it’s very hard for me to stay communicated … but I do wish I could buckle down and I want to actually learn it and be completely fluent, that’s probably on my bucket list. I can understand it, I can understand a whole conversation it would just be hard for me to piece the response back”
Since when did being proud of your roots and heritage not become the most obvious way of representing it? Just because someone doesn't speak the language doesn't make them any less Mexican, Cuban, Puerto Rican etc. If they're proud of their roots and know where their family comes from then that's all that matters.

Well said. I am proud of Selena and it's good that she embracing her roots.
Selena has always been proud of her roots, she even said she finished her Spanish album a long time ago, but HWR didnt release it. She said she did it for her father. And the Spanish versions of some of her singles. Also collabed with Selena Q. - her family was so proud! Dad especially.
Not people are getting at her for not speaking Spanish. dd Daya season 1 OITNB teas.
OT: I love her comment about Hilary Duff/Britney Spears. I think every minority has had that moment when they think they have to look a certain way to be accepted. Lovely speech
