No, I'm actually saying 700 - 800k is the max amount a solely urban single can sell without crossing over. BBHMM (and PIU) selling more than that is Rih's power.
As for PIU vs. BBHMM, the former was released 3 years ago, back when digital sales weren't the pits and streaming hadn't taken over. It also crossed over to rhythmic, while BBHMM barely peaked at #5 there for like a day and then they started dropping it. The fact that BBHMM is even close to PIU's total sales basically proves it's a hit.
. She is hardly comparable to an urban newcomer like Fetty Wap. She has a HUGE fanbase who eat up everything she does (case and point: that terrible video). She performed it on the SNL Finale, at the IHeartRadio Awards, released a trailer during the BET Awards, did a skit with the song on Jimmy Kimmel which went viral, offered fans money to make short videos of themselves dancing to it in another attempt to make it go viral etc etc etc. Rihanna IS the minority, because she is a huge superstar who already has a pull and can manage to execute huge promo like what I just mentioned. The big budget video is just another example of this. I personally find the songs performance extremely underwhelming because of all that, but feel free to disagree.
