Pick something personal, which has a meaning to you.
It's no good just asking people for ideas, because more than likely it won't mean anything to you.
Once you have an idea, just google or tumblr and look at some ideas. You can always just go to a tattoo artist with an idea and get them to create it for you. Make sure you research and pick a good tattoo artist.
I have a bunch so far, nothing too big yet. I usually pick something I want, and then wait a few months and see if I still want it. If it's a yes, get it. If you're still unsure, then it's probably best not to get it put on you permanently.
Eventually I want to get my arms completely covered and maybe my back and chest too.
Yeah I agree with that.
I was thinking of getting something both of my parents always say but in another language. How long should I wait to get it. A year? A month?
I also want something small that has a lot of meaning. Any ideas?
Make sure it's definitely correct in another language, so many people get bad translations.
Once you pick something just wait a month or two, and see if you still want it then. It's best not to get something on impulse, let the idea of having it settle with you for a bit. I'd say 1-2 months is fine. Plus it gives you chance to research different tattoo places whilst you wait.
*plus some tattoo places might have a long waiting list, especially if they're good. One time my friend had to wait a year.
Regarding something small and meaningful, it depends what exactly you want it to represent I guess.
Thanks for the info I really appreciate it. Where could I get some ideas though? Just tumblr?
Did you ever have a tattoo idea when you first thought of getting a tattoo? Like you can go with that.
But when you do come up with the idea make sure you check out the persons work and makes sure they know what they're doing. Sometimes garage tattoos aren't bad and sometimes shop tattoos are horrible.
Sis if you have to ask other people for inspiration for your tattoo, then it is not the right time. Then you're just getting a tattoo for the sake of having a tattoo.

Yeah I kinda agree. I think I'll know what I want and be in love with it later in life.
