In The Next 23 years when Brit and Bey are both 50 years old.... They will be LEGENDS if they continue on their paths, well maybe Britney should make a better path. Even though Beyonce already has won two legend awards.

I agree with others the two artists who have the biggest case to be called or close to the title of ICON or Beyonce and Britney. These two women dominated the charts and impacted the Pop culture "almost" more than anyone this decade. For Beyonce and Britney to truly lock down the title of Icon they have to be here 10 more years making waves in the industry with 20 years under their belt.

Aaliyah is an icon b/c she paved the way for a lot of new R&B artists and without her ther would be no Timbaland & Missy Elliot. She's the one that gave them their big break when nobody else wouldn't.

Aaliyah didn't become an Icon until after she died.
The reason why Aaliyah's death is more tragic than anyone esles is because she died when her fame was just takingo ff. No one knows what could have been with Michael, Tupac, Bigge, Elvis, etc died yes it was very tragic and people cried but we know what they did they didn't die at the height of their fame. Aaliyah on the other hand didn't get to be the legend she could have been.

Brandy, Monica, Mary J., and Janet paved the way for R&B songstresses. Aaliyah fit right in with them. But she hadn't become an Icon yet.

Aaliyah is an icon and she came out around the same time the artists you mentioned. She died before her chance to become a legend.

The Duffster paved the way for the rest of the Disney starlets. Miley, Aly & AJ, the second half of Raven's career, Demi, Selena, Ashley, Vanessa, Brenda, etc. would not be where they are right now if it weren't for Hilary. Hilary sparked Disney Channel's ratings with Lizzie and showed that teen actresses can sing with Metamorphosis hitting #1 with over 3 million copies in the US alone sold.
Some could argue that Britney, Justin, and Christina were the firsts, but I wouldn't really consider them since it was years after their show that they started singing.

Yeah I would say the same with Hilary. Hollywood Records was a sinking ship until Hilary save them from total wreckage. It was Hilary who started the giant human empire of Disney --- not animated for once. But Britney, Justin and Christina made Disney's name even bigger and made other Disney stars to crossover to mainstream...

That doesn't make her a legend or an icon, stop being delusional. And ROFLMFAO at the bolded part. Since when sales make a singer talented? you're so stupid if you think Hilary can sing just because her album went #1. It's like saying she could sing and can't now because her last album debuted at #125 and sold 10k

Bingo in the bolded part.
This has been my line against Britney since like ages ago. Too bad it means nothing to her stans.
So I guess you shouldnt been using it against Hilary. Besides, she hit at least top 3 with her first 4 albums without a single BBHOT100 hit, so I dont get why you keep calling her a flop.
She's a legend to me and that's it. I don't care if others think so. She's my favorite and thats the only thing I care.
DEAD @ stupid people fighting to each other over icons, sales and legends just after MJ died

To me, an icon is someone who is known worldwide. You can say their name in any country, and their image is instilled in their mind, an impression arises that is timeless and unforgettable.
I went to Paris and London in the last couple weeks, and I would have to say, music-wise, Britney Spears, Madonna and Michael Jackson are total icons. Their names are tossed around non-stop.

LMFAO at Duff fans.
This is beyond embarrassment. Hilary is NOT an innovator of anything. She barely has any sort of noticeable talent with a forgettable career that lasted for 2 years and has been replaced by more appealing teens. Nobody cares if she was among the generation that emerged from Disney shows. So ****ing what? Just STOP. Hilary has never done anything remarkable in pop as culture or music. Get over your delusions and go see the REAL world ASAP. LMAO. I just...

True that. This decade has only produced these two ladies in terms of impact and success.
