Anyone can reinvent themselves. You just can't do it with one movie when you've got cinematic baggage like hers. If she turns in quality work for several years/has a handful of great (not good) performances in one awards cycle, she'll start getting noticed.

Even Cher went from singer to acclaimed actress which was practically unheard of at the time.

All she needs is the right film and the right buzz.

I personally don't see anything wrong with thirsting over an Oscar though, as long as you genuinely enjoy the movies you're making along the way. People shouldn't be mocked for wanting to achieve great things. It's not like an actor is gonna say "no i'd hate to have an Oscar".
